Cette chanson met en relation le sentiment de courage et l'histoire de ces femmes qui restent à l'arrière pour s'occuper des champs ou remplacer leurs maris dans les usines. Cette histoire est aussi la trame du film Les gardiennes de Xavier Beauvois et du livre qui l'a inspiré.
